THE COLLEGE SEAL

The founding Missionary Fathers who purchased the Antique Academy had to device a SEAL for the College together with the Articles of Incorporation papers that had to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on July 31, 1959.

ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION were duly registered in the said Commission on the 4th day of August, Anno Domini, Nineteen Hundred and Fifty Nine. The St. Anthony’s College incorporators therefore approved and made use of this SEAL which is the Official SEAL of St. Anthony’s College.

THE HAMMER

stands for the two extraordinary talents of St. Anthony of Padua for teaching- the evangelical spirit and the spirit of poverty which softened unbelieving hearts and helped restore the vitality of the church. He used these talents as he preached simply. These talents were used in Northern Italy among those with mistaken notions on the Philosophy of Life and Christian Doctrines. Because of his dedication to these people, St. Anthony earned the title “HAMMER OF THE HERETICS”.

Accordingly, Pope Pius XII proclaimed St. Anthony as “DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH” as a tribute to his exemplary leadership in learning and living what he taught.
